Vehicle Description
Beautiful and very rare 1991 ALPINA B10 Bi-Turbo in excellent condition with the full history for sale.
The ALPINA B10 Bi-Turbo is the high performance version of the BMW E34 5-series. It is based on the BMW 535i and received several upgrades and modifications from ALPINA. These upgrades included next to many more; a fully rebuild engine with forged pistons, the addition of 2 water cooled turbo chargers, a complete new suspension set up with bilstein shocks as well as alpina specific springs and anti-rollbars, an electronic boost controller and larger Girling brakes. These modifications turned the B10 Bi-Turbo into easily the best performing E34 you could buy. With 360hp and a top speed of around 300km/h it dwarfed the M5 of the time and it even challenged the flagship Ferrari Testarossa. The B10 was the fastest saloon in the world in 1991 and quickly was regarded by journalists as maybe the best 4 door car ever. This meant that despite being more than twice as expensive as the BMW E34 M5 the Bi-Turbo became the best selling ALPINA ever with just over 500 units sold.
Not only the performance made this car special though. Yes, it is a quick car even for todays standards so in 1991 it was truly special but ALPINA is not only about speed and rarity. They aim to build cars that combine performance and luxury and this B10 is a very good example to show how good of a job they did. This example was ordered in the beautiful special-order colour Macao blau and is fitted with the very rare Heated and electric Recaro bucket seats with the classic ALPINA colours in them. I also has digital gauches to show your oil pressure, transmission temp, oil temp and ofcourse your adjustable boost pressure, in 1991! It also has enough non performance related luxury: Cruise control, sun shades, a sunroof, electric windows+mirrors, climate control and the rare auto-dimming rear view mirror.
The B10 Bi-turbo is a special car in any case but as mentioned above this one has been ordered in a very good spec with a combination of options that set it apart even further. But what truly makes this example special could not be ordered when buying it and is very hard to find: this car comes with the full history from day one and even magazines where it was featured in. Game changing performance in 1991, a very high level of rarity, Legendary status amongst enthusiasts and an iconic look combined with one of the best colours BMW offered back then. These ALPINA cars offer an experience which cannot be found anywhere else in this era of cars. Therefore they have displayed to be a very good investment over the last year and this example is no exception and has every bit of potential for the future while being a delight to drive today.
