Vehicle Description
This 1993 Bentley Brooklands was originally sold in California where it remained for most of its life. It was never driven in a snow or salt. The Brooklands model was manufactured by The Pyms Lane factory in Crewe as a four-door SZ series sedan. This example is finished in grey with light grey leather interior.
The seller has ownership and maintenance records from the three previous owners. Each transfer was a private sale with written records. The current owner and seller, an enthusiastic mechanic, obtained the car in 2021 from Arizona. It is powered by a 6.75-liter 8-cylinder motor paired with a four-speed automatic GM transmission. Equipment includes air-conditioning, hydraulic suspension, power-assisted steering and brakes, 15” alloy wheels, burl wood trim and folding rear seat trays. Audio is through a 4x25W amplifier with 6-CD changer.
EXTERIOR:
The paintwork is believed to be original and in very good condition. There are some usual but minimal stone chips on the front facia. ‘Bentley’ brand badges are enamelled in green, a feature of only the 1993 cars.
Factory alloy wheels feature covers with green-colored inserts and are wrapped in 235/75-15 Michelin tires dated from 2019. Suspension is by a hydraulic independent setup up front and back. Braking is by servo-assisted hydraulic disc brakes at all four corners. Front rotors were replaced recently under current ownership and the entire brake system was overhauled with new parts in recent years. A spare tire, jack and original equipment are located inside and under the rear trunk area.
INTERIOR:
The deeply cushioned grey leather seats and matching door panels and carpets are accompanied by genuine wood trim on the doors and dashboard. Matching lambswool carpets are included. All gauges, heat, AC, windows and all power accessories and controls are working as designed. The car has climate control and memory function for both seats. The rear cabin consists of two individual outer seats with a large centre arm rest folding away to provide a third, occasional seat. All gauges and buttons are also in excellent cosmetic condition. Vanity mirrors with individual lighting are located on the C-pillars. The dashboard fascia is dressed in walnut. The raked centre console contains three further gauges, climate and audio controls as well as the gear selector that was relocated from the steering column for the 1993 cars. A four-spoke steering wheel equipped with air-bag fronts a 170-mph speedometer, tachometer rev counter and instrument panel. Gauges display oil pressure, fuel level, oil level, coolant temperature, outside temperature, voltage and clock. The six-digit odometer shows about 101,800 miles which is believed to be the true mileage.
The boot or trunk is trimmed in leather-edge bound carpeting. It also contains a concealed Alpine CD changer and complete, original tool kit.
ENGINE:
The 6.75-liter V8 features Bosch MK-Motronic fuel injection and a twin-distributor. The automatic gearbox is a four-speed GM unit with Shift Energy Management (SEM) to smooth out the ratio changes. Bentley traditionally did not publish engine power output, but the general consensus from unofficial sources suggested somewhere between 240 and 280 bhp and good low-end torque from the naturally aspirated unit.
There is an extensive archive of paperwork from prior owners accompanying the Brooklands, including Carfax reports. The current advisory free Dutch MoT is valid until June 2025. The remainder of the archive consists of maintenance and parts invoices from previous and current ownership documenting meticulous ongoing maintenance. The following is a list of notable work:
- Steering rack
- Brake discs and pads
- Hydraulic spheres replaced
- All liquids and lubes including filters
- Spark plugs
- Ignition cables
- Twin-distributor drive belt
- Michelin tyres
- All electronic control units refurbished including new batteries (must do with those cars every 10 years)
Front ECE headlamps, originals included in price
This Brooklands is sold under Dutch registration that functions as both title and road registration.
