Vehicle Description
M.C.C. present for sale a street legal DTM car, the iconic BMW M3 E30!
1989 - 39.500 km - 139.995€
Developed directly from motorsport, the BMW M3 of 1986 was the first of its kind. When the car was presented at the IAA in Frankfurt in 1985, it was a sensation. And with its numerous championship victories in touring car racing, the BMW M3 quickly became one of the most iconic vehicles in the BMW M line-up and the beginning of movement in the automotive world.
Built initially as a homologation special, where Group A regulations required at least 5.000 road legal copies of a racing car to be sold within 12 months.
The BMW M3 E30 was an instant success and sensation, and it's easy to understand when little more than the doors and roof were retained from the base 3 series coupe. In addition, the brakes were uprated and cooled, the suspension derived from racing settings and the engine hitting that sweet spot of 200 HP, from a 2.3 L 4 cylinder with the 4 valve cylinder head technology, also used in the M1 Supercar.
It wasn’t only under the front hood where the M Motorsport team worked their magic, but also form.
The secret? Plastic for durability and light weight, with an overall weight of 1.200 kg, giving an impressive 6.15 kg/horsepower ratio.
The wider wheel arches, rear wing and striking aero ameliorations till this day keep heads turning wherever she goes. Whether its at slow speeds or her maximum speed of 235 km/h.
Purchased new by her current and only owner in January of 1989, who takes delivery at BMW Cooper West in London where he ordered it in Diamond Black Metallic over Full Grey Leather.
It then heads off to his second residence in Nice, South of France and is driven sparingly for the next 15 years on the Riviera. By 2022, the automobile has covered just over 3.000 km’s in the last 20 years and BMW Nice performs a big service at a high expense and preparing it for many happy miles!
She is key in hand, serviced less than 300 km ago and highly original is an under statement.
A rare opportunity to aquire a special automobile and be her second caretaker in 36 years!
Please contact us should you require further information.
