Manufactured from 1960 until 1971, Citroën built 1,365 DS cabriolets (or Décapotable in the manufacturer’s native France) with 483 sold as the DS21 variant. The cabriolet was outfitted in the height of luxury, with 15 paint colours, 13 shades of leather upholstery, and three carpet colours to choose from. Engines ranged from 66 horsepower in earlier cars to 141 horsepower in the most potent form.
The Citroën was retained by a custodian from 2002 until 2012 and was later acquired by the vendor. In previous ownership it was specially adapted to its current Décapotable form. It also benefitted from a comprehensive restoration by a marque expert in the Netherlands, with copies of the invoices on file. The DS21 is now presented in Wedgewood Blue with sumptuous Marine Blue leather interior and a matching dark blue mohair soft-top.
Enjoyed by the last owner for over a decade, they sent this DS21 Décapotable to marque experts Pallas Auto of Kent, England, in October 2024 for servicing and maintenance work. An oil service was carried out, and four new Michelin XAS tyres were fitted, as well as various ball joints and bearings, for a total bill exceeding £3,600. This charming Citroën now awaits its next owner as an ideal contender for stylish open-top road trips.
