Vehicle Description

This very original (unrestored) Fiat 124 Coupe from 1968 is a very nice one from the first (and most beautiful) series.

In the color Blu Turchese with a matching interior and even the correct original floor mats.

The Fiat is originally from Italy (Lombardia) and has been in the Netherlands since 2005. Has mainly been with collectors since 2005 and has only driven about 1,000 km in total since 2005.

The base is very original and particularly good. At the time, the Fiat had a tectyl treatment at a recognized company. Last year, approximately € 10,000 has been invested in the car by a professional old-timer garage to make the Fiat drivable as new again. Including:

* Engine: new head gasket, valves adjusted, gaskets, complete distribution (belt!) renewed
* Cooling system completely renewed with new radiator, fan, water pump, thermostat, hoses
* Fuel lines renewed
* Carbarator ultrasonically cleaned and overhauled
* Ignition, + cables renewed
* Brake system completely renewed incl. master cylinder
* Fine tuning carburettor and engine
* New fluids: oil engine, brakes, gearbox and differential
* Brand new flow formed alu Fiat-wheels with new 205/50R15 tires (original steel wheels with chrome hubcaps and chrome rings also available)
* Complete new set of shock absorbers (front and rear)
*etc.

All invoices and photos of the above revision are present.

A bliss is the four-cylinder inline engine designed by Aurelio Lampredi with two overhead, belt-driven camshafts. Someone really has to tell you that the displacement is only 1438 cm3, otherwise you refuse to believe it.

According to old-fashioned motoring journalist jargon, you can say that it is "nicely on the gas" and pulls through nicely from low revs, only to top off at 6500 rpm, when it releases its maximum 90 hp.

At that time, this was regarded as an unprecedentedly high specific power, which aroused the fear among doomsayers that such a 'tuned-up engine' would give up prematurely, which absolutely did not happen.

In fact, in terms of longevity, these Italian blocks rivaled their considerably tamer equivalents, especially England. With the firm shifting of the optional five-speed gearbox, you learn to cope easily, the four-disc braking system simply makes you happy.

Where the competition generally still had to do with poor drum brakes, this Fiat really throws a lot of anchors. Such a safe thought in today's traffic, which does not rely on the limitations of a classic car.

The Coupe has near perfect 50/50 weight distribution and very comfortable seats.

All in all a fantastic original driver's car in great technical condition.
