THE 911 3.0SC
Porsche engineers don't make many mistakes but the 2.7-litre 911s from '75 to '77 didn't survive the test of time. In 1978, Porsche came up with the solution in the form of the stunning 3.0-litre 911 SC. Porsche combined an indestructible body with an engine that couldn't brake and with plenty power to spare.
Well-maintained 3.0SC's could easily handle over 300,000km without an engine overhaul. With its 204hp, the SC was good for a 0 to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds - which is still fast today!
THIS 911 3.0SC TARGA
This American 911 left the Porsche factory in 1980 and was finished just like we see it today - with its beautiful Silver Metallic colour with black leatherette interior. In 2017, the car came to Belgium and into the hands of its previouis owner. Upon its arrival in Belgium, the car - as expected - turned out to be still very healthy but in need of some attention and a loving Porschist who would restore it to its former glory. The current owner set to work and gradually brought the car up to this level! We can see from the many costs, photos and invoices that he wanted the Targa in absolute perfect condition and has obviously only used it occasionally since.
The engine came first and underwent a thorough revision in 2017 with new warm-up regulator, injectors, clutch, chain tensioners, and so on.... This included painting, treating and replating the sheet metal and various parts. All mechanics were also further checked. The engine pulls very nicely through all revs and shifting is smooth and easy.
Today, the 3.0SC presents very nicely and immediately makes you long for deserted roads and a sunny day off. The paint was completely redone in 2018 according to the rules of the art and, of course, as can be expected, it still has a nice and deep shine today. The Targa is on the very nice - original !- 16" Fuchs wheels with fresh Michelin tyres.
In 2021, the interior had its turn and was completely redone. So inside we see new carpets & door panels but also the new, and extremely comfortable, sports seats. The steering wheel was replaced by a custom Tactico Racing / Momo deep dish wheel, enhancing the looks and steering feel of this fine driving Porsche. The original steering wheel comes with the car. For those longer trips there's the modern Blaupunkt DAB radio with the classic inspired looks. In the boot, besides the new carpet, we also find the original unused spare wheel as well as a nice protective cover.
Today, the car has a Belgian registration and technical inspection without any remarks. Furthermore, the car comes with its original 1980 'manual' and file with many invoices and photos. This beautiful 3.0SC is a very fun and 'usable' young-timer that is smooth to drive thanks to its abundance of torque. When the accelerator pedal goes deeper towards the carpet and its revs rise, it delivers very good performance and real 911 fun! It is the perfect car for Sunday drives, weekend excursions or participation in local rallies and meetings.
The car currently has Belgian registration and is sold on behalf of a client.
