Vehicle Description
HIGHLIGHTS
The new 997 Carrera is born with a design rich in references and reinterpretations from the past: the front end is characterised by oval headlights, side indicators and fog lights integrated directly in the bumper.
The volume of the front shield is completely revised with a new air-intakes scheme in which the all-in-one feature of the 996 is outdated by a new configuration where a central flow input is flanked by two minor intakes on both sides, helping the entire design to acquire an appearance more athletic.
The wider front fenders and the bulging sidesteps underneath the doors play a role in creating an aggressive yet elegant 911 in motion, while the rear fenders are developed in width giving the car that seductive look that the 996 was lacking of.
The doors and the front bonnet are made in an aluminum alloy, reducing the overall weight of the model while improving the safety standards. The modernity of the 997 project is witnessed also by the numbers. In fact, in the event you were a math geek, the drag coefficient of the 997 body reached the best target ever achieved in the whole history of the 911: 0,28.
The newly designed cockpit is refreshed with updated seats, higher backrests and more contoured profiles. The dashboard is ergonomic like never before and finally the steering wheel becomes adjustable both in height and depth. Porsche itself declares that the new 911 is safer, more efficient and provides the customers with a better experience, both for the pilot and for the passengers (needless to say, they were not talking about the not-so-good scenario in which you have to take a place on the back seats).
THIS CHASSIS NUMBER
The exquisite Carrera S presented here has left the Zuffenhausen factory in September 2008, being one of the first units of the updated 997.2 presented in the summer of the same year within the context of the Paris Motor Show.
The design is renovated with new bumpers, both equipped with new led lights. Thanks to the new aerodynamics studies around the restyling, the 997.2 reached a drag coefficient event better than its predecessor: 0.29 (0.30 if equipped with a PDK transmission). The stability of the entire vehicle has been improved as the result of a study carried out on the air flows hitting the mechanics underneath the vehicle, which create a low-pressure zone close to the axle.
The 3.8 liter engine of this Carrera S version (VarioCam Plus) received a new aluminum alloy basement - which consists of two lighter components united together, saving 6 kg if compared to the older engine - and a new direct injection system. The power output of the Carrera S is increased to 385hp at 6.500 rpm (and 420 Nm of torque at 4.400 rpm).
The unit we offer for sale is finished in "Nachtblau" (night blue) – as the name implies, a very dark metallic blue - over an extended black leather interior with contrast light grey stitching. As you can see from the pictures, the car comes in excellent conditions - with no defects at all - both aesthetically and mechanically, as witnessed by the fully documented service history carried out through the Authorized Porsche Network as well as the several invoices this car comes with today, with a covered distance of 96.462 km.
