Extraordinario ejemplar de Simca 1200 S Coupé Bertone de 1968 magníficamente conservado y mantenido; un coche realmente muy escaso, se produjeron apenas 14.000 unidades entre 1967 y 1971, de las quedan no más de 200 ejemplares ‘vivos’ censados.

El Simca 1200 S es un coupé clásico 2+2 diseñado por Giorgetto Giugiaro en Bertone, donde también se montaban sus carrocerías, que eran enviadas desde Turín hasta la factoría de Simca de Poissy en Francia.

El coche monta un potente motor en configuración longitudinal trasera con tracción trasera de 1204cc con dos carburadores de doble cuerpo Solex C35 que producían 85 CV a 6.000 rpm, lo que combinado con un peso de menos de 900 kg. le permitían alcanzar los 175 Km/h, al alcance de muy pocos coches de la época, como los Lancia Fulvia 1300S, Alpine A110-1300 o Alfa Romeo GT Junior

El interior, diseñado por Paolo Martin (Pininfarina), es muy deportivo y elegante, con un salpicadero de tres grandes relojes Jaeger construido en madera, e incluso en las primeras unidades como esta con el volante en madera maciza y aluminio.

El coche está equipado también con una autorradio Becker Europa y con unas preciosas llantas Cromodora de magnesio, modelo CD26 diseñadas para este coche.

El coche fue matriculado originalmente en Zurich por un español emigrado en Suiza, quien lo trajo a España en 1977. Después ha tenido dos propietarios y yo mismo desde 2016. El coche está completamente original, tan solo ha sido repintado (de su color original), el motor y la caja son los originales (‘matching numbers’) y la tapicería es la original.

Ha sido restaurada la madera del salpicadero y del volante (con el mismo tipo de madera que el original) a mano por un ebanista, descontaminado y sellado las llantas de magnesio, motor (culata, válvulas, asientos) adaptado para gasolina sin plomo, equipado con encendido electrónico, colector OMP, e instalación eléctrica rehecha, además de los además de los múltiples trabajos de mantenimiento exhaustivo en un coche de 57 años, de los que conservo registros de los últimos 31 años, con decenas de miles de euros invertidos.

En el coche todo funciona perfectamente, puede hacer viajes sin ningún problema, y de hecho ha sido usado a menudo en los últimos año en pruebas de regularidad de coches clásicos. Es un coche muy llamativo por su precioso diseño, por su rareza, por su estado y por su espectacular sonido, un clásico absolutamente exclusivo en magnifico estado.

This is an extraordinary, magnificently preserved, and maintained exemplar of the 1968 Simca 1200 S Coupé Bertone. This car is extremely rare, with barely 14,000 units produced between 1967 and 1971, of which no more than 200 ‘living’ examples are registered.

The Simca 1200 S is a classic 2+2 coupé designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro at Bertone. Its bodies were also assembled there and shipped from Turin to the Simca factory in Poissy, France. The car had a powerful 1204cc longitudinal rear-mounted engine with rear-wheel drive and two Solex C35 two-body carburettors that produced 85 hp at 6,000 rpm, allowing it to reach 175 km/h, within the reach of very few cars of the time, such as the Lancia Fulvia 1300S, Alpine A110-1300 or Alfa Romeo GT Junior.

The car's interior, designed by Paolo Martin (Pininfarina), is very sporty and elegant, with a dashboard featuring three large Jaeger clocks made of wood, even in the first units like this one with the steering wheel in solid wood and aluminium. The car is also equipped with a Becker Europa car radio and stunning CD26 model Cromodora magnesium wheels designed for this car.

The car was originally registered in Zurich by a Spaniard who had emigrated to Switzerland and brought it to Spain in 1977. It has had two owners since then, and I have owned it since 2016. The car is completely original; it has only been repainted (in its original colour). The engine and gearbox are original (‘matching numbers’), and the upholstery is also original.

The wood on the dashboard and steering wheel has been restored (with the same type of wood as the original) by hand by a cabinet maker, the magnesium rims have been decontaminated and sealed, the engine (cylinder head, valves, seats) adapted for unleaded petrol, equipped with electronic ignition, OMP manifold, rewired electrical system, in addition to the multiple exhaustive maintenance jobs on a 57-year-old car, of which I keep records for the last 31 years, with tens of thousands of euros invested.

Everything in the car works perfectly. It can be used for trips without any problems, and in fact, it has often been used in recent years in classic car regularity tests. It is a very striking car because of its beautiful design, rarity, condition, and spectacular sound. It is an absolutely exclusive classic in magnificent condition.
