De TR 250 is ontworpen door Giovanni Michelotti als een echte ontwerpersauto, de TR250 is gebouwd voor de Noord-Amerikaanse markt. Prijsdruk en strengere emissievoorschriften resulteerden in de montage van dubbele Zenith-Stromberg carburateurs in plaats van het Lucas-brandstofinjectiesysteem van de TR5. Anders is het bijna identiek.

De TR 250 is een auto van de ontwerpers van Giovanni Michelotti, Michelotti was een van de meest productieve ontwerpers van sportwagens in de 20e eeuw. Zijn opmerkelijke bijdragen waren voor de merken Ferrari, Lancia, Maserati en Triumph. Michelotti, geboren in Turijn, Italië, werkte voor carrosseriebouwers, waaronder Stabilimenti Farina, Truimph, Vignale, Allemano, Bertone, Ghia, Ghia-Aigle, Scioneri, Monterosa, Viotti, Fissore en OSI. Productie er werden in totaal 8.484 TR250's gebouwd, waarvan vele bestemd waren voor de VS en Canada.

Meer dan 1300 TR250's zijn nog steeds levensvatbaar in de wereld van vandaag.

The TR 250 is designed by Giovanni Michelotti as a real designers car, the TR250 was built for the North American market. Price pressures and tighter emission regulations resulted in twin Zenith-Stromberg carburetors being fitted instead of the TR5's Lucas fuel injection system. Otherwise it is nearly identical.
